About Us

Wychwood Tigers Daycare Centre (WTDC) is a non-profit organization that was incorporated by neighbourhood parents and the Toronto Board of Education in 1981 to fill the community’s need for licensed, quality child care services. A Board of Directors comprised of parent volunteers is responsible for all corporate policy and decision-making.

Committed to providing exceptional care to children of varying ages and abilities, WTDC is proud of its people, its principles, and its programming. Our approach focuses on helping children grow together, as a group, while respecting their unique needs and personalities. Through a dynamic, ever-evolving combination of indoor and outdoor activities that emphasize interactive play, problem-solving and positive decision making, WTDC fosters the happy, confident development of the whole child.

Wychwood Tigers Daycare is committed to:
  • Providing a happy, relaxed and stimulating environment that fosters self-confidence, self-respect, self-discipline and a feeling of security.
  • Encouraging positive interaction between adults and children, and between children outside of their home and school environments.
  • Developing the child’s willingness to share.
  • Developing the child’s ability to respect the rights of others.
  • Providing group experiences and broaden the child’s world through nature, science, art, music and imaginative play.
  • Instilling an understanding and acceptance of routines and limits.
  • Recognizing individual needs and capabilities and help each child grow and develop to his/her potential.
  • Fostering self-esteem in appreciation of the child’s race, culture, gender and religion.

Tiger employees are dedicated, reliable and most importantly terrific.  They encourage children to explore and create daily.  Staff are always identifying innovative ideas and programs to provide children with interesting and enriching activities.  As well, our staffing ratios meet and many times exceed the Day Nurseries Act standards.  All staff undergo a Criminal Reference Check prior to employment.

Program teachers are Early Childhood Educators (E.C.E.). On-going professional development is an important part of working at WTDC. Each year, staff are encouraged to take courses and workshops related to their role.
